Years 7-9

I have many years' experience teaching Years 7-9. At this age my focus is on firstly developing a thorough understanding of why each method works so that pupils feel they have some ownership of the ideas. This allows pupils to not only apply methods confidently but also to adapt these ideas to new contexts.

Once pupils have developed confidence I have a wide range of resources to improve or refine their problem solving skills. I have experience challenging the all levels up to the highest achieving pupils, including those gaining success at Mathematical Olympiads.

I was Key Stage 3 coordinator at Highgate School for three years and so have given deep consideration to how best to develop algebraic fluency as well as a wider understanding of how different topics connect to each other.
